WB2QLP Repeater

Details

The ARASWF 2-meter repeater outputs on 146.67 MHz, with a (-) 600 KHz split and requires a PL tone of 136.5 Hz.  It is located approximately 200-feet high at the north end of Pelican Bay, and  is operational 24-hours a day.  It is connected to EchoLink - the node number is 389568.

Repeater equipment includes a Kenwood TKR-750K2 repeater, which operates at 100% duty cycle at 25 watts, NHRC-5 Controller, and DR-1000B digital voice recorder, Mirage B2518-R amplifier.  Output is fed through a 4-cavity duplexer to a DB Products DB-222E antenna.  A Kenwood UHF transceiver provides link frequencies for control and EchoLink.  The repeater will stay on the air for a limited time in the event of power failure through the use of deep-cell battery backup and the building's backup diesel generator, which has a four day fuel supply.

Backup Spectrum S-7R repeater, controller, power supply and link transmitter are on-site for immediate use if the primary repeater goes down.

Repeater Call Sign

Until early 2008, the call sign of the club repeater was K4YHB.  Upon the passing of our friend and ARASWF life member Jordan Mash, WB2QLP, the club unanimously voted to adopt Jordan's call sign In Memoriam, and WB2QLP officially became the club call sign on May 28, 2008.

Jordan is pictured below, so we will never forget him and the many, many contributions he made to ARASWF, and the amateur radio community.  He is sorely missed by all who knew him.
